Franco Pellizotti at age 31 experienced his finest grand tour moment of his career at the 100th running of the Giro d'Italia. Finishing third only 1:59 behind Giro winner, Denis Menchov, Pellizotti proved himself worthy of leading the team. The curly-haired Italian demonstrated his strength at the mountain top finish of stage 17 winning with no other competitor around.

Ivan Basso finished in the 5th spot overall and seemed to be at the front of the race on every climb - a true protagonist.

Ivan and Franco will surely keep the peleton honest in the remaining races on the calendar.
